Idag blev det klart att det första Lulu Blooker Prize – instiftat för att belöna böcker baserade på bloggar – går till Julie Powell för boken "Julie & Julia". Boken inledde sitt liv som en blogg som följde Julie Powells försök att på 365 dagar tillaga alla 524 recept i Julia Childs "Mastering the Art of French Cooking". Sedan bloggen publicerades i bok… förlåt, blookform förra året har den sålt över 100 000 exemplar.

Juryns motivering lyder:

A great blook isn't a website shoveled onto paper. "Julie and Julia" successfully makes the transition and grows as it goes having learned from the blog readers. The deeply personal story here, the story of an obsession, leads us all to see what could be trivial and indulgent as a personal and as it turns out communal art, an art of transformation and of conquest (of egg dishes and of self-doubt).

Denna nyhet kommer kort efter att den anonyma irakiska bloggaren som kallas "Riverbend" blivit nominerad till det prestigefyllda Samuel Johnson-priset för bästa facklitteratur, så trenden håller i sig.
